Top 3 Reasons to Buy a Candlewood Lake Property

Top 3 Reasons to Buy a Candlewood Lake Property

If you love water sports like fishing and boating, or if you just like living near the water in a picturesque country setting, read on to find the top reasons why Candlewood Lake Connecticut is the best place for you.

Find out why Candlewood Lake properties are the best choice for Lake homes.

Candlewood Lake is largest body of water in Connecticut. Owners of Candlewood properties enjoy the lake all year round. During the summer months tourism in Candlewood Lake is high. Residents and visitors get to experience the most outdoor recreational activities like boating, fishing, diving, water skiing, hiking, and camping.

It was in Candlewood Lake CT that the late Bassmaster classic champion Bryan Kercha learned to catch bass. Candlewood Lake is teeming with largemouth and smallmouth bass, stocked brown and rainbow trout, walleye, catfish, shad, sunfish, rock bass and crappie. Last May to June, some 75 to 100 fish a day were caught in Candlewood. The lake has a six fish limit with a minimum size of 12 inches.

Candlewood Lake is the best “fishing hole” in Connecticut for angler. It is known as a trophy trout lake, but with over 100 yearly bass tournaments, Candlewood has also made a mark for excellent bass fishing.

Connecticut has no closed season for bass. Candlewood Lake is open for bass on the 3rd Saturday of April until March 31. The best time for fishing is from June to October. Spring is also a good time to fish since trout can be caught as easily as bass on each cast. So if you don't do well in the bass tournament, at least you go home with fresh trout.

Below Candlewood lies the submerged  town of Jerusalem with homes, buildings, sawmill, farm equipment, old roads, church, a cemetery, bridges, and even a few crashed airplanes. Scuba diving for artifacts under Candlewood Lake is also a popular activity, and Brookfield has many dive shops for this activity.

Boating is one of the major activities that can be enjoyed most of the year in Candlewood Lake, with 10 huge fully-stocked marinas around the lake. Conveniently located launch ramps are very accessible for boaters. If you don’t own a boat, you can rent from a wide selection of 24-foot pontoon boats, canoes, runabouts, and kayaks from any of the marinas. The Candlewood Lake Authority’s patrol enforces a speed limit is 45 mph at daytime and 25 mph at nighttime.

If you are looking for country living matched with the best water activities, buy a Candlewood property now and enjoy the lifestyle you truly want.

The number of home sales have dropped off since late 2013, however this is more likely due to the time of year and low inventory.
